This year marks a decade since the iconic BOMBAY SAPPHIRE distillery at Laverstoke Mill first opened its doors to the public. To celebrate this milestone, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE collaborated with renowned designer Thomas Heatherwick to create an exquisite collection of sculptural decanters inspired by the distillery’s iconic glasshouses.
We played a key role, facilitating the creative execution and managing production, ensuring Heatherwick’s vision was brought to life. Additionally, we designed a limited-edition bottle and gift box, complete with a hand-blown gin and tonic glass designed by Heatherwick.
The decanters, inspired by the distillery’s glasshouses, feature a striking hourglass shape. The lower half of each decanter doubles as a miniature terrarium, with intricate sculptures representing the botanicals used to craft Bombay Sapphire. Working alongside talented artisans, including master glass artists Alistair Malcolm and Simon Moore as well as the modelmakers at Atom, we helped transform Heatherwick’s concept into reality. Only 10 of these decanter sculptures were created, and they will be on display at the distillery.
For the limited-edition bottles, we designed a label that evokes the experience of stepping into the glasshouses. The label mirrors the faceted glass forms of the structures and features a beautiful watercolour illustration of the botanicals, along with a gold-foil emblem of Laverstoke Mill to pay homage to the distillery’s significance in BOMBAY SAPPHIRE’s legacy.
